Halloween season is upon us. Originating from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, where people wore costumes and ignited bonfires to ward off spirits and signify the icy descent into winter; the holiday has evolved into the markedly less eerie celebration we’re now familiar with.
After Pope Gregory III declared the first of November as a time to honor the saints; All Saints Day was born and the evening before was christened All Hallows Eve, then later – Halloween. Over time, Halloween has loosely incorporated traditional activities like carving jack-o-lanterns (they were originally turnips, Google “carved turnip” if you want your nightmares to be forever haunted), donning costumes, apple bobbing and trick-or-treating (or a variation thereof).
These days, Halloween looks less like honouring spirits and saints and more like spiked punch and dressing up as a fleetingly relevant meme. While spooky costumes are still a go-to, it’s becoming increasingly less common to stick exclusively to the horror theme. We’ve all seen Mean Girls.
Unless you’re a dedicated costume party enthusiast, you’re probably leaving your costume to the last minute and rummaging through your wardrobe to throw together an easy ensemble. So, if you’re already sporting BNs, or if you’re after a new pair and want to use your Halloween costume as an excuse to grab some, here’s some easily achievable outfits that will pair perfectly with your Bailey Nelson specs and shades.

Character: Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's
The ultimate lazy-but-effective costume. A black dress, an up-do and some costume jewellery (maybe a coffee and croissant as well for an extra touch).
2. Frame: Granville
Character: Napolean Dynamite
An easy throwback. You know there are plenty of those 'Vote for Pedro' shirts still going on eBay.
3. Frame: Adler Acetate Clip Ons
Character: Deloris Wilson from Sister Act
A costume that's easy enough to make if you're handy with a sewing machine, or even easier to hire. Get her eyewear look with a pair of BN clip ons.

Throw on a military-style jacket and a pair of Johnny's and voila, you've got the need for speed.
5. Frame: Anton

A groovy and effortless option if you can get your hands on an outlandish suit and neck tie. Amp it up with some false teeth.
6. Frame: Kane

Becoming the mathematician who calculated flight trajectories for Project Mercury is easier than it sounds. All you need is an 60s 'do, tailored suit and a NASA pin.

Character: Dwight Schrute from The Office
If you've got a tonal suit and you're willing to rock a mid-part hair style for the night, this is a simple one.
8. Frame: Terri

Get four friends together and make it a group outfit with Fred, Daphne, Scooby and Shaggy. Plus, orange is the colour of the season.

No matter what you wear, if it's paired with a pair of Lars and black bob with bangs, everyone will know you're the inimitable Edna Mode.

Ali Wong rocks some pretty great oversized specs in this film, a great option if you're really going for the low-effort everyday wear option.

What if I told you all you have to do is find a leather trench coat, tie and waistcoat and your Halloween costume is sorted?

This one's even more straight forward than the last. Recreate the original 90s classic or the upcoming reboot (pictured).
