Neighborhood Guide: Main Street Vancouver

Posted by on

If you haven't heard, we recently opened up our fifth Vancouver location on Main Street! We wanted to give you a compact guide to one of our favourite neighbourhoods. Whether you’re in the area for a quick bite to eat, a shopping day or a night out on the town, Main Street’s effortlessly cool strip has it all. Its collective of quirky cafés, thoughtfully curated shops and some of Vancouver’s best restaurants will have you falling in love with the neighbourhood. Take a stroll with the Bailey Nelson Team as we take you to our favourite spots!

33 Acres Brewing Co. & 33 Acres Exp.

33 Acres Brewing is home to some of Vancouver’s best craft beers and the most Instagram worthy spaces. The minimalistic and airy aesthetic is nothing short of inviting and beautiful. Their rotating beer list consists of staples like 33 Acres of Life all the way to their experimental brews like a Farmhouse Dry Hopped IPA and more. There’s something for everyone to enjoy. We also love the selection of wood fired pizzas, brunch items and snacks, AND the space is kid friendly!

The Soap Dispensary

If you’re looking for more ways of reducing your waste, then The Soap Dispensary is the place to visit. They specialize in package-free products such as pantry ingredients, cleaning supplies and apothecary. Don’t have a reusable container? No problem! They’ve got reusable containers for sale, too.

Verde Plant Design

Verde Plant Design carries indoor plants, home goods, living walls and more. If you need a hand caring for your green friends, or you're just looking for helpful tips on plant care, the amazing staff at Verde are extremely knowledgeable and can help answer any burning questions you may have. They offer plant education and even books to help make sure your indoor plants flourish!

The Shameful Tiki Room

This little slice of paradise is a must. It’s dimly lit with no visible windows to the outside light so you’ll be fully immersed in the vintage tiki experience. You can sip on some exotic classic cocktails like The Zombie, while enjoying the Go-Go Bungalow dance party (every Wednesday and Sunday). Open seven days a week from 5pm until late, you can escape to paradise anytime, and you can’t forget about The Mystery Bowl - it’s a must!

The Acorn Restaurant

As an award-winning restaurant, The Acorn is nothing short of remarkable. The ambience and knowledgeable staff make you feel welcome and right at home as soon as you walk in. Their menu changes with the season focusing on plant forward and vegan fare with each dish crafted to perfection. Their bar program is also some of the best in the city and features some exceptionally creative cocktails. The Acorn will satisfy even the pickiest meat-atarians.

Nomad Restaurant

Across the street from the Acorn restaurant stands these stunning floor to ceiling windows that make for the best sunny day brunch spot with friends. Their passion for sustainability and sourcing the finest local ingredients is prevalent in their mouthwatering dishes and cocktails. Did we mention they have happy hour every day from 10pm until close?

Neptoon Records

Established in 1981, Neptoon Records is Vancouver’s oldest independent record store. The store houses the largest collection of pre-loved and new vinyl in the city and is a staple in every music enthusiasts list of go-to’s. Here you’ll find a wide variety of genres and styles that are sure to please everyone. Pop by and discover something new!

Yum Sweet Shop

If you have a sweet tooth and don’t mind indulging (no judgement) then you’ll love Yum! The store’s hand-picked selection of gourmet gummies, candies and chocolates from around the globe are sure to satisfy all your sweet cravings. Not only that, they also have a varied selection of ice creams, soft serves, bubble waffles and many more sugary delights!

Main Street’s eclectic and unique personality shines within each establishment and its communities. The road stretches far with plenty of new places to discover in and around the surrounding area. If you find yourself in the Main Street neighbourhood, be sure to check out these spots and go exploring. You won’t be disappointed!
